This descent, which lasts between two and three hours, traverses the canyon of Angon from the footbridge. It starts with an abseiling of 35 meters in the most beautiful waterfall of the canyon.
On the way to the Canyon
To make your canyoning descent a perfect moment, our team invites you to a unique canyoning base around Lake Annecy ...
Located in Angon, just below the canyon and by the lake, it is the ideal place for canyoning and having a great day with your feet in the water. With a beach and a small bar overlooking the lake, this is a little paradise that you will only find at Monté Médio.
When you are ready, your guide will equip you from head to toe: overalls, harness, helmet, and you will set off towards the great Angon waterfall.
We favor access on foot from the canyon which is done by a beautiful hike of 30 minutes from our base. By climbing on foot, you reduce your impact on the environment.
The approach walk ends with a fabulous path carved into the cliff which leads to the largest waterfall in Angon. Before installing the rope for the first abseiling, your guide will explain the main techniques and instructions to fully appreciate your descent.
In the Canyon
That's it the rope is installed, it's your turn to sit in your harness for 35 meters of descent in the big waterfall.
The hikers who came to see the waterfall observe you, but your guide helps you feel comfortable and with his advice you make the biggest abseiling of the canyon! Depending on your experience, you can either descend by leaning on your feet or by sliding on your back. In both cases, you will hold the rope below the descender in figure eight to manage the speed. But if you don't feel it you can ask the instructor to belay you from the top.
Well done! You are at the bottom of the waterfall, you arrive in a huge natural swimming pool to take your first bath. After this first abseil, you will follow very quickly with another one of 25 meters which is carried out on a large part in spider wire below a huge block stuck in the canyon gorge.
Short sections of walking and swimming punctuate the descent with another four abseils. The canyon of Angon also has several pretty slides, including that of the Mailbox and also some jumps (5 meters maximum depending on conditions).
The canyon ends at the top of an old dam. In less than 10 minutes, you will be back at the canyoning base on the shore of Lake Annecy.
